Age suitability
How Focus+ creates age-appropriate fitness communities.
Minimum age: 16
People under 16 cannot use the Focus+ community. Focus+ is not listed in the App Store Kids category and is not designed for children under 13.
Separate communities
Members aged 16–17 and members aged 18 or older cannot discover one another's profiles or meetups, invite or message one another, join the same activity, or share participant chat through Focus+.
Privacy-preserving age assurance
On supported Apple operating systems, Focus+ requests an age range with gates 16 and 18 through Apple's Declared Age Range feature. A range can be shared by the person or, where applicable, controlled by a parent or guardian. Focus+ offers a manual age-band declaration where the Apple feature is unavailable or sharing is declined. Focus+ does not request, store or display an exact birthday.
Safety controls
Phone verification is required before hosting, joining or participant chat. Members can report profiles, activities and messages; blocking is immediate. Text is screened before publication, exact meetup points stay outside public discovery, and confirmed participants receive safety planning and check-in tools. These controls reduce risk but cannot guarantee identity, conduct or physical safety.
For parents and guardians
A 16–17 member must confirm that a parent or guardian knows about their use of Focus+ for real-world fitness meetups. Families should review plans, location, transport, supervision and local rules together. Device-level purchase, communication and content restrictions remain available through Apple family and Screen Time settings.
